Aren't they gorgeous? Plus it's super easy and you don't need that much to get it done... Let's get to it.
You will need:
Martini Glasses (or any type of glass)
DecoArt Americana Frost Gloss Enamel
DecoArt Americana 3D Frost Gloss Enamel (optional)
DecoArt Americana Reusable Stick-On Stencil (I used their “Mod” stencil)
A makeup sponge or a Paint Sponge dabber, or paintbrush
** I don't know if they need to be "DecoArt Americana brand or not... Use your discretion**
1. Wash your martini glasses in hot soapy water, dry them well, and then rub the
outside surface with rubbing alcohol. This removes any bit of oil that
might remain and helps the paint adhere well.
2. Press the stick-on stencil onto the glass and smoothed out any air bubbles. Use a 1/2” paint dauber, paintbrush or makeup sponge to apply the paint. If you are using a paint brush you need to
use very light strokes to prevent under-bleed.
3. Apply a nice, even coat
of paint covering the stencil. The frost paint will not look very opaque
while it is wet.
You can now add some 3D paint if you desire for a
special effect. I added a row of dots around the base of the glasses.
The paint dries quite quickly which is nice. It will cure in four days.
What is even better is that you can make it dishwasher proof by placing
the glasses on a cookie sheet in a cold oven, turning the heat to 275
degrees, bake it for 30 minutes, turn off oven and let it cool inside.
Head over to Sand & Sisal to check this tutorial out. I think they are perfect for a Ladies Night In and I can just see the most perfect daiquiries and magaritas making it into thos glasses.
